Wonderful Stay in Iceland
We highly recommend this house. It was extremely comfortable and had everything one might need in a home rental.

Great base camp to explore the Golden Circle area
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The host/property manager was responsive and friendly. The circuit break tripped at 10:00 pm one evening and he graciously walked me through by video call to find and reset the breaker. The house itself shows a little bit of age, but otherwise it's very nice and cosy. It has pretty much everything you need to enjoy time with family. The location is perfect for exploring the Golden Circle area. Rent a 4x4 so you can do the less crowded hiking trails accessible via the many F-roads. Our favorite was Haifoss, but there are many more. Selfoss has a couple of larger grocery stores which you should visit before arriving at the house, but there's a smaller grocery store near by in Flúðir that has the essentials.

Sehr schönes ruhig gelegenes Haus mit allem Komfort
Von Selfoss Richtung Landesinnere ca. 25 Autominuten entfernt liegt das Haus in sehr ruhiger, fast schon einsamer Lage. Das Haus lässt kaum Wünsche offen, es gibt einen Whirlpool, eine Infrarotsauna, 2 Badezimmer, eine gut ausgestattete Küche mit großem Kühlschrank und Mikrowelle. Die Aussicht aus den großen Fenstern ist fantastisch und kaum Streulicht behindert die Sicht auf die Nordlichter. Die Golden Circle Ziele sind gut erreichbar, wenngleich man sich typisch für Island an längere Fahrtzeiten gewöhnen muss, da man meist nur über Landstraße mit ca 90 km/h unterwegs ist. Ein Allrad Fahrzeug ist aus unserer Sicht nicht zwingend nötig, beruhigt aber die Nerven, wenn man im Winter unterwegs ist. Der Vermieter hat uns auf Kulanz sogar noch einen Nachmittag zusätzlich im Haus verbringen lassen, da die Wetterlage kurzfristig weder eine Autofahrt noch den Rückflug möglich machte. Wir würden auf jeden Fall das Haus wieder buchen.

Golden Circle
The Golden Circle is so incredible it’s not to be missed. We stayed three nights at Þrándartún which allowed us to experience the wonderful sights at a leisurely pace. It is such a special house, and relaxing in the hot tub with a gorgeous views of stars or under the afternoon made great memories. The location was great and there is so much to do in the area. We really appreciated the comfort and convenience and would love to return!

A magical place to stay
I would highly recommend this home to explore Iceland, particularly the golden circle. It's very close to many things and it's a beautiful private place. The hot tub and sauna's awesome and the beds are very comfortable. The host is really wonderful as well and you will feel supported if you've never been there before. Highly recommend to stay here and enjoy Iceland.

Tolles Haus - sehr zu empfehlen
Lage top, beste Ausstattung, sehr sauber, schöne Einrichtung plus Sauna und Whirlpool. Besonders zu erwähnen ist, dass eine Grundausstattung wie Toilettenpapier, Haushaltsrolle, Gewürze, Öl, Kaffee, Tee, Spülmittel und Waschmiittel vorhanden war. Check in und Kontak war sehr angenehm. Alle Fragen wurden schnell beantwortet. Der Whirlpool war für unsere Hausauswahl nicht wichtig. War für uns aber nach den langen, manchmal kalten regnerischen Touren ein schöner wärmender Ausklang des Tages. Zu erwähnen wäre noch das es einen Weber-Gas-Grill gibt. Tolles Fleisch u vernünftigen Preisen gibt's bei Bonos in Selfoss. Meidet die kleinen Supermärkte, es sei denn ihr habt Geld im Überfluss :-; Bucht das Haus wenn verfügbar. Für uns war es das schönste auf Island.

Lovely property
This house was very well equipped, you really don't need to take the basics with you, really is a home from home. The location was great for us, far enough away from it all but everything we wanted to see was within an hour or so drive. The house was very clean, couldn't fault it.

Outstanding location, very nice house
We (eight people) really enjoyed our stay at Þrándartún. The house is quite new and has everything you need for daily life and got very good equipment. It also got everything for relaxation: a nice Sauna and a hot pot outside make you feel good every night. The location is really beautiful, you have a very nice view of Mt. Hekla. It`s so peaceful and quite, not far from a river, lots of singing birds and horses around. The location is also perfect for day trips. You easily can reach some of the most beautiful hot spots in Iceland, i.e. the Nationalpark Thingvellir, the waterfall Gullfoss, hot springs with the famous Geysir and lots of other waterfalls along the coast of South Iceland (Seljalandsfoss, Skógarfoss...). A day trip to Landmannalaugar by bus from Selfoss or Hella is also possible. Even Reykjavík is not that far, it's like an hour to get there by car. It´s possible to stay with eight people at Þrándartún, but I would recommend to come with not more than six people, otherwise it could be a bit narrow. There are three bedrooms, each got two beds and two extra foldable beds. But still it`s worth to give five stars.

Un emplacement à couper le souffle
Le chalet est parfaitement equipé. Nous n avons manqué de rien. La literie est trés bonne. Le confort est ++. Que dire de la vue à 360 sur les champs, petites montagnes et la riviere à proximité sans compter les chevaux... Le spa est un moment tres privilégié. Les instructions sont claires et l hôte est tres avenant Nous étions 4 adultes et 3 enfants. Nous conseillons sans problème ce logement.

Week in Iceland
Lovely clean and well furnished, modern villa. Superb views and glass frontage to take advantage. Good hot tub and sauna. Great location for Golden Circle, Vik and the capital. Not a full four stars however as some of the fittings (gas fire) and light bulbs not working. Also cupboards and drawers have owners possessions in them which limits storage space. If the owner were to tidy their possessions into one single locked area then it would feel more 5* and less like borrowing a friend's house ! It was advertised that the gas fire did not work, but given how superb the house is, the owner should repair it as the fire would have made a big difference to the ambience of the house in the long winter evenings. Take your own Bluetooth speaker as the house HiFi is too old to play music from a phone

Very nice place to stay
Have just returned from a weeks stay here and it was excellent. The property and location is great, clean and with everything you need for a self catering accomodation. You will need to hire a car if you are staying here as it's out of the way a bit, which is what we wanted. It's well located to travel to the golden circle, the South cost (Vik) and Selfoss is 30 minutes drive away where there are retaurants and shops etc. This may seem a bit far but if you have never travelled to Iceland before you will discover that everything is quite far apart outside of Reyjkavik. The host (who we never met) was very helpful and supplied us with all the information we needed for our stay and recommendations for what to do nearby. I would definitely stay here if I visit Iceland again,

Gemütliches Haus
Alle Sehenswürdigkeiten des Golden Circle sind gut zu erreichen, wir sind sogar bis nach Vik gefahren, was auch noch geht. Das Haus ist sehr gemütlich, die Küche gut ausgestattet, alle Gewürze, Öl etc. vor Ort. In Selfoss gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten.

Amazing house in the icelandic countryside
The house is about 30 minutes drive from Selfoss away. Already on arrival we thought, how great the landscape around the house is. Located in the middle of nature, very quiet and nice horses as neighbors. It was very clean, well equipped and perfect for self-catering. In addition, all major attractions (such as Geysir, Gullfoss, National Park Þingvellir) are not far away. The contact with Kjartan was very nice and he gave us good tips for our stay in Iceland regarding excursion tips and shopping possibilities. The information how we find the house and get the key out of the box were also very good. I would recommend this cute house to anyone who also tries to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. We were very lucky with the weather and could enjoy this unique sight. This will definitely not be our last trip to Iceland! :)

Absolutely Beautiful!
We absolutely loved our stay. The house is further away from the airport than staying in the main city, but it is worth it. The landscape was amazing. The house was comfortable and nicely decorated, and it was relatively close to many tourist sights in southern Iceland. I loved my stay in Iceland, and we hope to stay at this property again one day soon.

Not too bad, would probably stay again
Firstly the location was exceptional for me, and my family, and for our exploration of southern and western Iceland. I would strongly recommend it on that basis alone. However it was extremely difficult to gain access to the property in winter - this was nobodies fault, as such, as the lockbox design used by many airbnb places is just so fiddly and difficult enough - but in freezing conditions it becomes a hundred times worse. It took us over an hour to get into the house. The instructions were not clear enough as to the location of the lockbox (recommend new picture showing its specific location). In other airbnb's i have stayed there was a digital keypad which was much easier - especially in such freezing conditions as we experienced on arrival. The house itself was very spacious and nice. The decor and comforts were surprisingly old (there was a PS2 for example) and it felt like it needed some good attention to modernise it somewhat. Batteries were missing from the digital thermostats. A light didn't work. These were just minor points that meant i couldn't give this a 5 star. Would i stay again? Yes. Would i recommend it? Yes.
